Celebrating Pride Month

Pride Month is celebrated each year in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, which served as a defining moment for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. During this month we recognize and celebrate the remarkable contributions that LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual) individuals have made all around the world.

What brings you joy as an ally or member of the LGBTQIA+ community?

As an ally and supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, one of the things that brings me immense joy is witnessing the authentic expression of love in all its forms. Love knows no boundaries, and it is a beautiful and powerful force that transcends gender, sexual orientation, and societal norms. Inclusive love fosters empathy, compassion, and understanding within communities. It enables us to appreciate the richness of diverse experiences and challenges societal norms that seek to restrict or judge love based on arbitrary criteria. Embracing love in its various forms allows us to build a more inclusive and equitable world where everyone is accepted and celebrated for who they are.

Why is Pride Month important?

By celebrating Pride Month, society acknowledges the rights, experiences, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals, while also highlighting the ongoing work needed to create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
