Kevin Finamore
Kevin Finamore is the Assistant Principal Trumpet in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He joined the DSO in 2000. Prior to his DSO tenure, he performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Singapore Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, and the Sun Valley Summer Music Festival. Mr. FInamore also performed as fellow and soloist at the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. He can be heard on recordings with American Brass Quintet, Dallas Symphony Brass Quintet, and CancerBlows: The Legends. He has also appeared as a soloist with the DSO and can be heard on the DSO recordings since his tenure.
Mr. Finamore joined the faculty of SMU Meadows School of the Arts in 2018 and is the Adjunct Professor of Trumpet. He was formerly a teacher for the preparatory department of The Juilliard School of Music. Mr. Finamore can be seen teaching master classes around North Texas at other universities including Oklahoma State, University of Kentucky, University of North Texas,Baylor University, and University of North Carolina Greensboro. Mr. Finamore is also on the faculty of The Round Top Festival Institute.
Mr. Finamore received his Masters in Music from The Juilliard School of Music and Bachelors of Music from North Carolina School of the Arts. His professors included Ray Mase, Chris Gekker, and Mark Gould.
Kevin Finamore is a staple of the DSO trumpet section and within the trumpet section maintains the section sound and versatility. His responsibilities include regularly rotating within the section and can often be heard playing principal trumpet on both classics and pops concerts. Mr. Finamore is a Yamaha Performing Artist.
