Kathryn Henry
In the 2023/24 season, Ms. Henry notably assumed the title role in Janáček’s Jenůfa with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, where she also sang the High Priestess in Francesca Zambello’s production of Verdi’s Aida. She then debuts with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in Indiana for Strauss’ Four Last Songs. This summer, she returns to the Santa Fe Opera to cover Marschallin and sing Marianne in Der Rosenkavalier. Previously with the Santa Fe Opera, she portrayed Lucy Harker in the world premiere of John Corigliano’s The Lord of Cries. The recording of that work by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project received a Grammy nomination in the Best Opera Recording category.
Previously, Ms. Henry worked with Sir Antonio Pappano as a member of the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme. She also had the distinct honor of working with fellow soprano and mentor Renée Fleming in Carnegie Hall’s Song Studio, and later joined the Aspen Music Festival as a Renée Fleming Artist where she sang the role of Roxane Coss in Bel Canto.
Other engagements include La tragédie de Carmen (Micaëla) and the title role in Pauline Viardot’s Cendrillon with the Florentine Opera Company, scenes from Norma with Sacramento Philharmonic &
Opera, Beethoven 9 with Walla Walla Symphony, the Fauré Requiem with Racine Symphony Orchestra, and Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Helena cover) with the Santa Fe Opera. Further credits include Governess in The Turn of the Screw, First Lady in Die Zauberflöte, and the title role in Suor Angelica. She has also covered the roles of La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, and Mimi in La bohéme.
An alumna of the Ryan Opera Center at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, she covered Mother in Hänsel und Gretel, debuted in the world premiere of Proximity, and debuted a recital with pianist Chris Reynolds on WFMT 98.7FM, Chicago’s classical music station.
