Mariachi Lone Star
Mariachi Lone Star is a premier mariachi ensemble in Dallas, known for its vibrant performances that celebrate the rich heritage of traditional Mexican music. Mariachi Lone Star was established in 2010 and comes from the private studio of husband and wife, Juan M. Garcia and Maria Vargas-Garcia. Maria is a proud alumni of the DSO’s Young Strings program, Greiner MS alumni, and is now the head orchestra and mariachi director at her alma mater.
Mariachi Lone Star is unique in where all members are alumni of Dallas’ Greiner Middle School! They now thrive in careers such as teaching music, business, law, architecture and forensics. They pride themselves with having a diverse group of performers playing the traditional mariachi instruments and adding a bit of accordion to the mix. Mariachi Lone Star has an extensive performance history, over the years the group has performed at major cultural events and festivals such as at the Dallas Opera House, The Texas State Fair, The Wyly Theatre, Arlington Live, and were the opening act for the George Lopez Comedy Show. Mariachi Lone Star is committed to taking mariachi music to great heights keeping the Mexican culture alive for generations to come.
